We transformed an old dovecote in the heart of Madrid—a small, open-plan, 22 m² attic space—into a cozy studio with a classic style and all the modern comforts.
To optimize the design, we enclosed the bathroom and laundry areas with walls, while keeping the rest of the space open. Curtains were used to separate the bedroom area, ensuring privacy without compromising the sense of openness. The sloped ceiling of the attic was utilized to create practical storage in the lower areas, while the higher side was organized to house the living, sleeping, cooking, and bathroom zones, maximizing the functionality of the space. Since the old dovecote was not originally designed as a living space, we carried out a comprehensive renovation to ensure the client's comfort.
To add sophistication and elegance, we chose decorative parquet flooring, hydraulic tiles, and herringbone-patterned tiles for the wet areas. The walls were adorned with boiserie and moldings, creating a classic, romantic, and welcoming atmosphere. Warm, carefully designed lighting, an electric fireplace, classic-style furniture, and golden metal accents complete the design. These elements transform this small home into a cozy and elegant space, perfect for enjoying alone or as a couple.
